Review of Website Yardsellr

Hello all!

I am coming to you today to tell you about a website I just discovered www.yardsellr.com

If you are a fan of ebay then you will want to stop by and check this site out it is fun with a unique twist on the buying concept.

Pros:

You sign up for this website through your facebook account and upon signing up you receive $5.00 worth of photons. Photons are a really neat free item that the website uses to promote buying. Photons are the equivalent to free money. When you make a purchase on yardsellr.com (if you choose to use your photon balance) it will take the dollar amount directly off of your purchase! Photons do have a "Half life" so to speak they do count down and eventually expire but you earn them every day by logging in, getting your friends to sign up, and certain sellers give you photons as a perk for purchasing from them. There is also a pause button so that while you are shopping you can pause the photon countdown for 60 min at a time (you can repeat this "pause" action over and over there is no limit) to keep from loosing photons.

I have purchased 4 items from the site and all of the sellers were extremely quick in shipping the item and very friendly to work with. As well the products were very fairly priced and so were most of the products throughout the website. Sellers were very generous with their prices for the most part.

Here is a leather coach purse (authentic) very slightly used I cant find any wear or tear appears to be in stellar condition for only 33 dollars! As well the seller describes the item as in "like new" condition

Their is a $1.00 fee for every purchase that goes back to yardsellr, but with the free photons you are given usually you are saving much more then you ever spend in fees.

You can also become a seller on Yardsellr.com and easily list items you wish to sell. Here is the best part it is free to sell on Yardsellr! Thats right! You can list as many items as you like with numerous pictures and descriptions and it is completely free!

Cons:

There are certain aspects of the site that need to be improved such as a general help section and "how the site works" section. While it does have a lot of categories for help listed in a "commonly asked questions" format the answers didn't answer all of my questions. There are forums where you can ask other users for help. I asked for help with information about "gifting photons" (yes you can give them away) but I never received help from the community after nearly 3 days I finally gave up. I posted my question in two different forums with no response.

The other downfall is that when shopping for a specific item there is no way to limit your search results. For instance I wanted to look for shoes but I wasn't able to limit my search down to simply the size 7.5 that I wanted to look for.

The final downfall was that I still wanted help (with my photons question from up above) so I wrote to Yardsellr directly requesting information about how to gift photons and explained to them what I had tried and that I couldn't seem to find the correct place to do it. When I wrote to them it did tell me that they answer questions on a first come first serve basis but after nearly 3 days I haven't received a response.

Some of the other complaints I read about was that people didn't believe there photons should expire.
To this I answer "oh well". There are very few other sites that give you free "money" as it were to use on their website. Yes the amount you win from day to day will change. One day I got 5 dollars another I got .5 cents. But honestly the products I purchased I would have bought either way so why not save a few bucks? They don't have to give them to you in the first place.

Another complaint I saw:

When people would check out their photons were not applied correctly and they were charged the full price of the product but the photons were taken from their photon balance.
To this I answer: I purchased 4 products and this did not happen to me, however if it is a problem it states in the help section that there is a specific department you can write to and let them know your photon balance was incorrectly charged. Again I didn't receive a response from their "questions department" yet but this was a different department and they may have a larger staff manning that department so I can't comment on that. And again it goes to my response above. Photons are a free incentive they are great but I would have purchased the products one way or the other so yes they should refund those affected but no its not the end of the world to me.

Overall I really enjoy yardsellr.com and will keep using it in the future. I started using it to do this review and will continue using it. I hope that you all stop by and give it a try and I hope you have as much fun as I have!!

See you soon!

My New Shop

So I know I'm crazy but one shop just wasn't enough! I know, I know but I am so excited about this new shop The Squeaky Hinge. Its not fully on it's feet yet but it will be the home of candles, coasters, soaps and more! I am so excited about it!

Here are a few items up so far and they are so fun and cute! I am really proud of them and I love that they can be personalized. I am currently trying to learn more about Search Engine Optimizing (SEO) As I am still trying to be discovered for both of my shops. I hope to list 5 more cute coasters today or early tomorrow! Please feel free to link either website to your favorite places! Any word of mouth is very much appreciated! Thank you all!

Happy Crafting!

Changes and Whats to come

For those of you have been checking back I'm sure most of you have given up on me!..i'm so sorry.

It has been a year since my last post and a lot has changed.

My posts were lagging in the past and I had decided to give up for the simple fact that I was working full time, trying to keep things in order around the house, and take care of my one year one year old.

Well my one year old is now two (three in may!!), I was laid off from my job as it was outsourced and know I am back for real this time. Well most of you probably read my post about reading 52 books in a year (a book a week). I made it to 42. Not too bad for how busy I was but not quiet my goal. I'm still proud of the accomplishment though!

My goals this year include running this blog successfully, giving you lots of new fun recipes and tutorials and running two etsy shops! www.presencedesigns.etsy.com and www.thesqueakyhinge.etsy.com

I am so excited about the new year and the new crafts it brings!I am including some pictures from my shops and looking forward to starting fresh with this blog!
