Happy February!!

Well its February already holy cow how did that happen?? So I have been busy reading, writing, hooking, and eating of course! It is superbowl time and I have put together some yummy ideas for superbowl party eats. I know most people order pizza or a party tray but it was always a tradition in my family to make a bunch of appetizers so here are two of my favorite recipes.

Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts

1 can whole water chestunts
1 package of sliced bacon
chopped garlic, prechopped or chop your own!
Brown sugar
Soy sauce
Toothpicks

Wrap each whole water chestnut in a slice of bacon skewer it with a toothpick to hold it together.
Once all water chestnuts are wrapped make the sauce by mixing 3 tbsps of brown sugar 1/2 a cup of soy sauce and 2 tsps of chopped garlic. Mix well until sugar is blended pour over water chestnuts that have been placed in a aluminum foil wrapped baking dish. Bake at 350 for 15-20 min until bacon is done. Enjoy!

Little Smokies and Crisants
1 package of little smokies
1 package of crisants

Begin by unrolling the crisants and cutting them into smaller triangles. Wrap each little smokie in the crisant and follow backing instructions on the back of the crisant package. Serve with mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.

I hope you all have a great superbowl party wether it be just you or a big group! Oh and if I don't mention it my husband would not be to happy so.... GO STEELERS!!!

Reading...Reading... and More Reading

Well as I said in my previous post I have been reading like crazy because I decided to read 52 books this year and so far its going great!!!

So far I have read:

In the Woods - Tana French

Trust No One - Gregg Hurwitz

Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen

Dust to Dust - Tami Hoag

Outlander - Diana Gabaldon

Once A Princess - Johanna Lindsey

Prince Charming - Gaelen Foley

So far I am ahead of schedule and am enjoying every minuet of it!! I am logging my books on a great website that I absolutely love: http://www.librarything.com/. If you have a large book collection or just hate not knowing which books you have this is a great site to catalog your books, rate them, talk with others about books and get recommendations. I love this site!!! Also a lot of my books have come from http://www.bookmooch.com/ this site is great for trading books and is on a points system. Another great site to check out!

I couldn't leave you without a yummy delicious recipe to sink your teeth into and make your taste buds happy so here is one for you. I was recently wanting to make some tacos but I didn't have taco seasoning on hand so here is a yummy taco seasoning recipe that is (in my opinion) better than any store bought:

TACO SEASONING:

1 TBSP Chili Powder

2 tsp Onion Powder

1 tsp each: Ground Cumin, Garlic Powder, Paprika, Ground Oregano, Sugar, Salt
Once meat is cooked add seasoning and 3/4 cup water and cook down.

So delicious and easy!! I make up a few batches a month and keep them in mini zip lock bags so I always have some on hand!! In the next few days I plan on having a new scrumptious recipe for you using this taco seasoning recipe so keep checking back!!

Happy Reading and Delicious Eats,

Jennie
